To ensure the security of the data on your removable disk, you can encrypt the disk and the contents using BitLocker which is built into Windows.

To do this, please follow the steps below:

1. Connect the removable disk to the computer.

2. Open File Explorer and then click on This PC in the sidebar on the left.

3. Right-click on the removable disk you wish to encrypt and then click on the Turn BitLocker on option.

4. You will then be asked how you'd like to unlock the drive, please select Use a password to unlock the drive.

5. You will then be prompted to backup your recovery key, please do not lose this! If this recovery key is lost and you forget the password you used to encrypt the disk, the data will be irrecoverable. Make sure you chose the best option that is easier for you and do not misplace this as nobody will ever be able to decrypt the disk or contents without the password chosen or the recovery key.

6.  The next option you want to chose is Encrypt entire drive (slower but best for PCs and drives already in use) as this will encrypt the contents of the disk as well as future content stored on the disk, the first option will only encrypt the content that currently sits on the disk.

7. Select Compatible mode (best for drives that can be moved from this device) so that this drive can be used everywhere.

8. When you are ready, click on Start encrypting. This will then encrypt the drive with the specified password that you set in step 4.
