Using the wrong type of label roll for the configured printer settings may stop the printer from printing.
The printers that the InVentry system uses can operate with two different types of label rolls. These two label rolls are Brother DK 22205 for black and Brother DK 22251 for red.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: We recommend using Brother genuine label rolls or the InVentry supplied Label Rolls as they work best with the printer and keep the warranty valid. Using non-genuine label rolls or rolls not supplied by InVentry will void the warranty of the printer.
The below steps will need to be done on an Administrator account.
InVentry supply both Brother label rolls and InVentry Label rolls, these can be ordered in bulk through the InVentry console.
The printer will be set to use black label rolls by default, but the settings can be changed to use red ones if you want them. If you have a printer set to use black labels and you put in a red label roll, it will not work. To change this, you must do the following:
Close the InVentry screen by tripe tapping on the InVentry logo at the bottom left of the screen:
Insert the pin code, 1 2 3 4. If you don't know this see your InVentry Administrator or contact support:
Within the Maintenance Area select the option Shutdown InVentry
A Windows desktop will now be showing and an Orange Box will appear in the bottom right hand corner. Tap this to stop the Core software from reopening whilst you continue below.
If this is missed, you will have to start from Step 1 again.
Tap “OK” when this appears in the middle of the screen.
Locate and tap the On-Screen Keyboard on the bottom right hand side of the screen:
If the keyboard covers the bottom half of the screen, simply tap the “MINIMIZE” button:
Search “This PC” and tap to open:
When the folder opens, make sure that Hidden items are enabled. Select “View” and then tick “Hidden items”:
Select and open “Local Disk (C:)”:
Open “ProgramData”. Note: Must have hidden view enabled to see folder
Open “InVentry”:
Delete ONLY “PrinterSettings.invSettings” and then close all windows:
Search and open “Devices and Printers” in the Windows search box.
You may need to search for 'printers' or access 'Devices and printers' via the 'Control panel' as sometimes it may not show up immediately.
Locate the Brother printer. HOLD your finger on the icon and then release to do a right click and tap “Printing preferences”
Navigate to “Advanced” and then change your new label type on the dropdown box to either Monochrome if Black/White or 2-Color if Black/Red.
If you need to adjust the quality of the print or finding the print is too dark then you will need to modify the Brightness and Contrast settings found under the 'Advanced' tab in the above image.
Press “OK” at the bottom once this has been done.
Close all windows currently open. Locate the “InVentry Core” and open to get back to the normal sign in screen.
Note these icons will be placed differently on your screen.
