Changing your preferred audio devices

For those who use VoIP services such as Microsoft Teams, Sangoma or zoom, this guide will show you how to change your audio device preferences.

 

Windows will default to the latest audio device connected to the PC unless otherwise specified, to get started, follow the below steps:

 

Right click on the speaker icon in the bottom right corner of the taskbar.

 

Click on Open Sound settings.

 

Click on Sound Control Panel in the top right corner of that window that has just opened.

 

Under the "Playback" tab, please click on the device you wish to use for your audio output and then click on the down arrow on the "Set Default" button at the bottom of that window, and select "Make default playback device", this will ensure all audio is routed to this device.

 

Then click on the "Recording" tab and click on the device you wish to use for audio input, such as a headset ot internal microphone and then click on the down arrow on the "Set Default" button at the bottom of that windows and select "Make default communications device", this will ensure that your voice is picked up by the correct device for clarity and ease of hearing on the other side of the call.
